Disability Law

The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is an international treaty that aims to protect the rights of persons with disabilities. Ireland has signed the Convention but as of yet the Convention has not been ratified in this country.

Presently the position in this country regarding access to healthcare and disability services is quite bleak. We at Coonan Morgan believe that for particularly acute cases these services amount to a basic human right an they enable people to live their lives with at least a modicum of integrity and respect. Where it is clearly obvious that the denial of a particular treatment or service impacts on the fundamental human rights of the person concerned then recourse to the courts may be appropriate this is particularly more so where the services have been withdrawn and a clear need still exists.

If you or a loved one is in such a situation please feel free to leave a message in the box below to request an immediate call back.
